This is your Member E-Letter explaining what is currently happenning with the Orlando Runners Club as well as running news, social events, races, and "happenings" in Florida.  Please forward this on to anyone that you think would be interested in joining the Orlando Runners Club.

If you are an ORC member looking to schedule a run or find a running partner in your area, send a note to the e-Letter Editor  to post or find a neighborhood run.   We'll publish your scheduled run in the next newsletter, or post a notice that you are looking for a running partner.  Be sure to include the day/time of your run, location, distance and a way to contact you.
 
Regular runs are also posted on the Training Partners page of the website.
ORC Track Shack Group Runs
  Track Shack
The ORC Track Shack Group Runs are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month.  The first Tuesday run starts from O'Boys BBQ in Winter Park at 7pm.  The 3rd Tuesday run will rotate to different venues around Orlando.  
 
Volunteers are needed to host third Tuesday runs throughout Orlando.  If you'd like to help coordinate a Tuesday run in your area, please contact Amy at amyt262@yahoo.com.  Watch the Upcoming Events section or the Calendar for details each month.
Board Nominations Needed

Do you want to be more involved in your local running club?  Do you have some great ideas of events the club should participate in?  Then now is your opportunity to let others know what you want for your club.

The Orlando Runners Club is now accepting nominations for the Board of Directors and Officers to serve for the 2007 - 2008 term.  Elections will be held after the July first Tuesday run, and newly elected Board members will be introduced at the Awards Banquet on July 28.  The new Board goes into effect with the August Board meeting for a one year term.

To nominate someone or volunteer for a Board position, please send an email to president@orlandorunnersclub.org.

Challenge Series Results
 
 We are near the end of the Challenge Series and preliminary results are posted through the Winter Park 10K.  Please review the Challenge Series page and email Amy if you have any questions or updates.  If you've volunteered with Track Shack at a Grand Prix event, you get 5 points per race, up to 10 points total, plus an extra 10 points for volunteering at Outback.

Please mark your calendars for the following ORC running and social events:
  • June 5 - 1st Tuesday Group Run - Meet at 7:00 pm at O'Boy's BBQ, 565 W. Fairbanks Ave, Winter Park.
  • June 7 - ORC Board Meeting at 7:00 pm at Chamberlin's in Winter Park.
  • June 16 - ORC 2nd Annual 5K -  5K at 7:30 am, Kids' Fun Run at 8:45 am - Blanchard Park, Dean Road, Orlando. 
  • June 19 - 3rd Tuesday Group Run - TBD.
  • July 28 - ORC Annual Banquet - More details coming soon.

ORC 2nd Annual 5K Road Race 

Chamberlins

Mark your calendars for June 16 to participate in the ORC 2nd Annual 5K at Blanchard Park on Dean Road.  This event was started in 2006 to honor the 30th anniversary of the Club.  It will continue as an annual event and is one of the key fund raising activities for the Club's general fund. 

The 5K race starts at 7:30 am.  The course is an out and back along the paved trail in the park that runs along the Little Econ River.  The Kids' Fun Run starts at 8:45 am and is free to all children.   Refreshments will be provided after the race. 
 
Awards will be given to the top three male and female overall finishers, the top three male and female in each age group, as well as the top male and female overall race walkers. 

Registration forms are available on the website which can be completed and mailed in, or click here to register online.  Registration will also be available on the day of the race.

Packet pick up will be on race day only.  Pick up your race number and t-shirt at the race site between 6:15 am and 7:15 am  All paid entrants will receive a custom designed shirt.  
 
The Club is also looking for volunteers to help on race day. If you are interested in helping, please email
