Out of Town Races |
 |
|
Comments from Stacey Bartos about her Out of
Town Race: "I just ran Big Sur marathon - it is
absolutely beautiful and a challenge for us
Florida runners as it is nothing but hills - up
and down. Should be added to all marathoners
"Must Run" list."
Let us know if you're doing a marathon, half
marathon, or special "Out of Town" race in 2006,
and share your experiences with other ORC
members.
Send your Out of Town Race info to Michele
Brackett at
mtb40@aol.com.
If you have any digital photos from Out of Town
Races, send them to our
webmaster to be included in the Photo
Gallery section coming soon to the website.

Farewell to our ORC/URC Friends -
From The Ryes
|
|
|
For those that didn’t attend the President’s
Reception last month, you didn’t hear the
announcement that Curtis & I have decided to
move back to Alabama. We made a lot of friends
thru the club and are realizing we are really
gonna miss you guys. I had never volunteered for
anything until I joined the club. From there, I
worked my way to managing the volunteers, not an
easy task on either part. I would like to thank
everyone that answered my plead for help, like:
Bob Morgan, my favorite volunteer – it was the
New Year’s run at the Executive Airport – the
first time I met Bob. Someone clogged the toilet
and it overflowed. Well, it’s hard enough to get
a volunteer – but to ask them to clean up an
overflowed toilet is out of the question. I
didn’t even have to ask Bob, he overheard the
conversation and rose to the occasion. Said he
had been in the service and cleaning that mess
up would not bother him in the least. That
impressed me very much and placed Bob not only
as my #1 volunteer but in my heart as well. Bob
– when you go to Biloxi, please give me a call
and I’ll meet’cha over there!!
Yuku Hudak: my favorite person in the world. It
took me some time to understand your “northern
accent” but once we got over that – there was
not stopping us. Yuku is the only person I know
that can hit a parked EMMI truck and not even
know it!! Yuku, you know how to get in touch
with me and I’ll always have a room for you.
Mikko: I’m sorry I tried to make you wear that
purple shirt – I hope you forgive me.
Seth & Janice Elsheimer: for recruiting Curtis
and Eddy at one of the races.
URC Club Members: Thank you for all the
hospitality you’ve shown us while in Japan
(1999) and while visiting us. Especially
Houma-san. If you ever come to Alabama, please
contact us.
There are too many people to recognize. We’re
gonna miss you all.
Our new home is still under construction. We’ll
be right next-door to my parents and our address
is 7889 County Rd. 19, Foley, AL 36535. My
Nextel cell# 251-269-1965.
Curtis has accepted a new position with
Crestview Aerospace and starts on May 15th. Our
last day in Orlando will be this Friday, May
12th. We are excited and sad at the same time.
If you’ve never served on the board – please do
so. It’s the best way to understand what the
club officers and members have to go thru to
keep the club running. It’s a lot of fun and you
meet many of the club members. Thanks for
everything!
