Athens Marathon |
ORC member Stephen
McKenney Steck is producing a radio
documentary and several features on
the upcoming Athens (Greece)
Marathon. He'll be running in it as
a unique way to cap off his recent
admission into the 50-State Club and
the 7-Continents Club! The program
series will air during the first
part of 2008 on public radio
station 90.7 WMFE-FM and may be
offered nationally later in the
year.
For the radio program, Steve wants
to interview an ORC member or two
who has run that marathon. If you
have run it or know any one who has
(even an non-ORC member) and are
willing to sit for a brief interview
please call or email Steve at WMFE
at 407-273-2300, ext 100 or email
him at
steck@wmfe.org.

Great Florida Triathalon |
Imagine
the sun slowing rising over Lake
Minneola and the air sizzling
with the energy of 1000
triathletes nervously waiting to
plunge into the sparkling waters
of Lake Minneola. This is the
event they've trained for all
year long, the event that
defines them.
Be a part of all the excitement as
Triathletes from over 40 states and
a dozen countries converge on
Clermont to test their endurance in
the 17th Annual Great Floridian
Triathlon. The Great Floridian
takes place on Saturday, October 20
and features a 2.4 mile swim, 112
mile bike, and 26.2 mile run.
Other
weekend events include the
Floridian Sprint and Florida
Challenge triathlons
along with our new TriKidz Splash &
Dash.
Volunteers are an integral part
of the success of the event and
nearly 600 are needed on race
day alone. If you like to
help, individual volunteer
positions are available
throughout the day including
race registration, course
marshals, finish line,
transition area, body marking,
timing, and more. Even if you
only
have a couple of hours to
spare, your participation would
be appreciated. Because of the
length of the event, positions
are available to match any
schedule.
Bring your family members out to
support Lake County's Largest
Annual Sporting Event, the Great
Floridian Triathlon. Volunteer
today by calling 352-394-1320
ext 102. You can also
sign-up online or learn more
