Sunday Morning Long Runs |
 |
|
Jack Gallagher would like to report some
significant progress on the rejuvenation of
the Sunday running group. Over the past
several weeks we have had over a dozen
different people show up at 7:00 AM on
Park Avenue at Welbourne. We are
averaging six to l0 people. Our distances
range from 5 to 18 miles lately, with two in
the group training for Disney and about a
half dozen for the OUC half- marathon.
We would like to keep the momentum growing
enough to build back up the several dozens
of runners who used to show up, so we once
again invite all of you to come join a
really nice group of people with a wide
variety of backgrounds. If you need any more
information or have any comments, please
contact Jack Gallagher at
gallaglher.consulting@earthlink.net.

Urayasu Runners Visit Orlando!
|
|
|
The Urayasu runners have safely returned to
Japan. They send their thanks to their home
stays and day hosts for the warm
hospitality. Each of the runners had a
wonderful time.
Congratulations to Mr. Noriyoshi
FURUSHIMA who won first in his age group
at the OUC Half Marathon.
The ORC Board wishes to extend their
thanks to Karen Breakell, Christine Vogt,
Karl & Terttu Barsch, and Amy Tatum for
hosting the runners, and to everyone else
that was able to join them at various events
throughout the weekend.
Many thanks to Paul Yacobellis for
organizing the pre- race ORC pasta party at
Buca di Beppo in Maitland. We had close to
thirty ORC members and friends, including
our guests from Japan. Everyone had a great
time and fueled up on carbs for the OUC half
on Saturday.
The ORC Annual Holiday Party was held on
Saturday December 2nd, at the home of Vicki
Bishop. Many thanks to Vicki for being a
wonderful host, and to Theresa, Michele,
Dave and others who helped organize the
event. The Japanese runners atended as our
guests, and there were lots of new faces,
plus a few we haven't seen in awhile. Thank
you to all who brought food to share - there
was plenty of good eats for everyone.
Stay tuned. We will be posting pictures
and notes of the events soon on the website.
And the "Orlando Week" Committee in Urayasu
is busily making preparations for the ORC
runners visit to them in February.
