The ORC has two competitions for club members.  The long-standing Challenge Series awards points for placing in your age group in designated races.  The Race to Win competition promotes distance, at any speed.  Points are awarded just for finishing, whether first last or somewhere in the middle.

Rules

The rules are simple.  All members are automatically entered and scored.

  • Must be a current member of the ORC.
  • Run at least three of the 12 races.
  • Points are awarded based on how you finish in your age group among other ORC members.  Points are awarded 10 deep in each age group.

Rule Change for this Year - Challenge Series results will be scored on races only.   While the ORC still needs your help as volunteers at the Corporate 5K in April and the West Orange Habitat for Humanity 5K in May, no volunteer points will be given towards the Challenge Series.

Race to Win

The ORC is continuing the Race to Win club competition, with a new award for number of events.  This program rewards runners not for finishing first, just for finishing.  Anyone can win, whether you are first or last, as long as you are an ORC member and make it to the finish line.  Each mile of racing earns a point, and at the end of the year (July 1 - June 30) we will recognize the top male and female with the most points and the most total events.  For full details, click here

Races and points are not recorded automatically.  Each participant is responsible for timely reporting his or her own races to the Race to Win Scorekeeper within 30 days of the race.  Grace period for reporting all July and August races is September 30th.  So send in your results now.  For questions or to report a race, email Seth.
