Local Runner Sets Collegiate Record On June 23, 2007, former Oviedo High School and ORC Scholarship Winner Jenny Barringer recorded the second fastest time in the 3,000m steeplechase ever by an American woman. Barringer represented Colorado University at the USA Track & Field Championship where she set an NCAA collegiate record and won the USATF title. With the win, Barringer has qualified for the World Championships in Osaka, Japan on August 24 through September 2 and will have the option to make the trip. Marathon a Month Club Congratulations to Alejandro Pinedo, who is halfway through his goal of completing a marathon a month. He started in November of 2006 and hopes to keep the streak going throughout 2007. So far, he has finished marathons six marathons in six months, including:

This year's event was held in College Park, just northwest of downtown Orlando. Four teams journeyed around this scenic neighborhood looking for answers to clues. searching for pumpkins, jogging up and down Edgewater Drive, and exploring other famous College Park landmarks. The winning team, "Rebels Without A Cause" (Paul Yacobellis, Amy Sindler, Julie Sindler and Steve Menke), won the scavenger hunt based on most number of correct answers and accumulated bonus points. They were awarded prize bags; however all participant teams received prizes. Prizes were also awarded to those in costumes. Karen Breakall won 1st place as Tinkerbell; 2nd place went to Julie Sindler as Bridezilla; and Dave Virtus finished third as a very scary yet always funny "Howard Stern Monster". Boston Qualifier Congratulations to ORC Vice President Amy Sindler who recently finished the Chicago Marathon in 3:36, qualifying her for the Boston Marathon next April. Great job! Congratulations 50K'ers Congratulations to ORC runners Stacey Bartos and Seth Elsheimer, who completed the John Holmes 50K Ultramarathon on October 14. Though official results are not yet available online, we hear Stacey was the female winner and second overall. 2007 Urayasu Exchange Runners Each summer four ORC members are selected to represent Orlando in an exchange with the Urayasu Runner's Club in Japan.
