COVID-19 - Update from the Orlando Runners Club

Hello runners,

While so much of our daily lives are being disrupted, the ORC board has met to discuss the impact of the current public health crisis on our club activities.  We want to do what is needed to protect our members and friends, and take measures to reduce and slow the actual infection rate through our community.

WEEKLY FUN RUNS

After serious deliberation, we have decided to cancel all regularly scheduled fun runs until the end of March.  This will include the Sunday Morning long Run from Park Ave, the Monday evening Mellow Mushroom run, the Wednesday Morning College Park run, our participation in Track Shack's Wednesday evening run, and the March 19 Third Thursday run at Fiddlers Green. We hope to resume these activities in April. Stay tuned.

MARCH FUN RUN CONTEST

We will suspend the contest as of Monday, March 16. All run points earned are recorded and will be retained and applied when the contest is resumed, hopefully in April. Stay tuned for that announcement.

MAY 30 RACE INTO SUMMER 5K

We are continuing to plan for this annual 7:30am event in Blanchard Park, although look for a special bargain registration rate when registration opens in April. We want this race to be our biggest ever to celebrate our likely return to a semblance of normal life and the social value of our fitness pursuit.  So for now, hold the date!

Please everyone adopt the best practices that have been so widely shared, keep in touch with one another, and stay healthy.  These are indeed interesting times.

Best to all,

Bob Reed

ORC President
